Count full years from the birth date to the most recent birthday, then full months from that birthday, then leftover days. Someone born March 10, 2000 is, on July 25, 2026, exactly 26 years, 4 months, and 15 days old.
How are leap-year birthdays handled?
For the age breakdown, a February 29 birthday completes its year on February 28 in non-leap years (the month is clamped to its last day). The "next birthday" countdown targets March 1, the most common celebration convention.
Why does total days not equal years times 365?
Leap years add a day roughly every four years. Someone exactly 24 years old has lived about 8,766 days, six more than 24 x 365.
